Alittle about us...

Beth Mondor

Aside from a junior high shop class, company co-founder Beth Mondor had no woodworking experience when Valley Custom Cabinets first started crafting cabinetry in the basement of her home. In fact, she spent most of the company’s early years caring for her two young children, Josh and Trevor.

As the business grew, however, Beth found herself in the shop more and more until it became a full-time job. Eventually, she purchased her co-founders’ share of the business and joined with Jeff Germain in a new limited-liability partnership, founded in 1995. The next year, they moved into Valley Custom Cabinets’ current shop.

Today, Beth’s boys are teenagers, and Beth is a full-fledged cabinet-maker. She enjoys the creative process of working with customers and other tradespeople to make products that people use and appreciate on a daily basis. Everything she knows she’s learned through hands-on experience and the guidance of her fellow craftspeople in the shop.

Her talents in staining, finishing, and assembly are on display in every finished product. When you feel that smooth finish? That’s Beth’s handiwork.

Jeff Germain

Like Beth, Jeff received his introduction to woodworking in junior high shop class. But for Jeff, the experience was enough to get him hooked. He took classes in cabinetmaking and construction during high school, and then continued his training with a two-year “Wood Technics” degree at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) in Rice Lake, Wisc. Jeff says his fascination with the trade lies in the satisfaction he gets from turning a piece of nature into a functional and appealing product – something he now does every day.

In 1992, Jeff joined Valley Custom Cabinets as an employee. Then, in 1995, he became a partner in the business. Today, he is the company’s designer and estimator, meeting with clients to determine the right solutions for their space, décor and budget.

Jeff enjoys staying on top of the latest techniques and materials so that he can offer clients exactly what they’re looking for. But the best part of his job, he says, is seeing the positive reaction from clients when a project is completed.
